WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. —

Many are saying that something needs to be about the intersection of Highways 51 and 104 in Wagoner County.

The most recent wreck happened late Tuesday night and caused one Muskogee man to lose his life. It was the second serious accident in one week.

“There was an ambulance and four fire trucks. That’s a fairly common sight for the people who live around here,” said Michael Stone.

Troopers said the Muskogee man died after the car he was in didn’t stop at the stop sign. Stone said he knows the dangers of the intersection all too well.

“My grandmother died as a result of that intersection. It’s just that people do not pay attention,” Stone said.

Residents say the lack of a stop sign on Highway 104 is a big reason for why there are so many wrecks.

“They forget it’s not a four-way stop and there are way too many accidents,” Stone said.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will investigate to see if there is a way to make the intersection safer.
