People in Muskogee are joining Muskogee police to help a woman who's been the victim of two home invasions in 48 hours.
Last month, FOX23 reported about a group that broke into the home of an 83-year-old deaf woman. Her house was targeted again not long after the first break in.
Now, the community is working together to help solve the case.
“I just can’t imagine somebody doing it to a senior citizen, you know, if they want to get tough, why don't they match up with someone just like them,” said Charles Randolph.
Randolph was moved to tears while talking to FOX23.
“I saw it on FOX23. I saw it not too long after it happened,” he said.
When Randolph saw FOX23’s story, he said he wanted to help.
“No, no, I don't (know her). Well, I don’t want it to happen to someone else,” he said.
He's just one part of the community that's stepped in to help this victim. He went to police.
“I mean, I talked to them about it and I said I’d be willing to do a reward or I’ll buy her a hearing aid. They told me someone had already taken care of the hearing aid,” he said.
He's one of two people that's increased the Crime Stoppers reward to $3,000.
“Well, you know, we want to give a reward, because I think that will make people come forward,” he said.
FOX23 reported last month a Muskogee-based alarm company gave the victim a free alarm system and Muskogee's Fraternal Order of Police replaced her door after it was busted down twice.
