A man was found dead inside his midtown Tulsa home and police say his roommate beat him to death with a baseball bat.
Police arrested Joel Giefer, 29. Police identified the victim as Ted Kissel, but his fiancé talked with FOX23’s Price McKeon outside the house about how she wants her fiancé to be remembered.
“He was the most caring person ever and he loved life, he loved being out at the lake, he loved hanging out with his friends,” said Rachel Bloom.
She said her fiancé, Ted Kissel, also loved Kansas State. She shared a photo of them at the game last Saturday.
“He was not selfish at all he would help anybody if he thought they needed it,” she said.
That's what she says happened when her high school sweetheart let Giefer rent a room from him.
“It wasn't real. I was getting ready to go to work because it wasn't real,” she said.
She drove down from Kansas just to see it was real. She showed us her engagement ring.
FOX23 was there as police spent hours Tuesday morning gathering evidence. They said Giefer killed his roommate with a baseball bat.
Bloom said Kissel was trying to kick Giefer out. She told FOX23 she’d never met him.
“He decided when he was home for Thanksgiving, well actually before he left, that he was going to kick him out,” she said.
S
he said he got home on Sunday, and less than two days later, police were investigating his homicide.
“Yesterday I talked to him when I got off work and he’s like ‘Yeah I don't know if he’s going to be there, (I) hope he’s not going to be there because I told him he needs to be out.’ Then I never heard from him again,” she said.
Police said a friend dropped off Giefer Monday night at the house and police said sometime after that he texted that friend repeatedly that he had done it.
Police said Kissel recently moved to Tulsa and they think a dispute over rent led to the homicide.
