The actress, 31, who plays Mercedes McQueen, was written out of the show last year.
Viewers were led to believe her character had been murdered.
In fact, the star had asked Channel 4 bosses for a break but always expected to return.
The producers plotted her comeback but Jen had to keep mum about it.
She admitted: “People kept asking me what I was going to do. I got good at lying. I kept saying I was sleeping.”
