Cameron pledges swift cuts to migrant benefits and tax credits

Asked about the failure to hit net migration targets, the PM said: “The biggest lesson I would learn is we need to act more rapidly on the financial draw to Britain.


“I think the tax credit system and benefit systems work to make Britain a massive draw”

In 2010, Mr Cameron vowed to reduce net migration to below 100,000.


But a surge in European arrivals means the figure has barely changed in the past five years.


Meanwhile, a USurv poll revealed one in three people believes none of the top seven political parties have appropriate policies to deal with immigration.


Ukip had the most support at 30%.
